Author Visit

On 20th October local Author, Elka Evalds, visited the school. She met the children in an assembly and shared some insights into the characters in her book Granny Magic Book. She also led Year 2 and Year 4 in a creative writing workshop.

We know we enjoyed her visit very much but Elka also enjoyed it and here is what she had to say:-

"Thank you for having me at your school. I had an absolutely wonderful day. The children were extremely responsive and willing to participate Year 6 was delightfully sociable and helpful when we were setting up for assembly. The whole school seemed engaged and happy to converse in assembly. I loved hearing their comments and their ideas for the future.  I had a wild time storytelling with Year 2! And Year 4 were wonderfully creative with our collaborative poem. It was especially touching how much they clearly love their teacher! They all asked great questions all day. I was deeply impressed by how patient they were queueing to get their books signed.

I have to add that the faculty and staff were universally kind, warm and welcoming. (This is not the case at every school. It is possible to feel like a ticked box at some places.) That makes a huge difference.

Your school felt like a well-organised, warm, alert, engaged and kind place. Being there gave me a real lift. Thank you for having me and for taking such good care of me!

Very Best Wishes and Happy November,

Elka Evalds"
