Why is it important to consider safety when allowing children access to electronic devices?

It is more important than ever to ensure that we as adults support and teach children how to be safe online. Evidence shows that:

• on average 3 to 4-year-olds spend over 6 hours online a week
• 54% of 3-4-year-old have their own device
• fewer then half of parents of 3 to 4 year-olds  agree that ‘the benefits of the internet outweigh the risks

While the world around us continues to change we are pushed to rely more heavily on the benefits of technology as a means of communication and entertainment.
