If you have the book, read it together naming the characters as you read.

Go around your house to identify things that start with that sound.

Choose a number sheet from your pack and practice the number formation.

Count up and back from the number

Clap, jump, hop, and balance counting your number of the day.

Can you count out a number of different objects making sets of the same amount?

Using some clothes pegs - see how many you can peg onto a bowl/cup at home. 

Support the children in using their index finger and thumb to open the pegs.

You can also draw faces on toilet rolls and create different hair styles whilst practicing cutting.

Choose a number and count forwards to 20 or 30. Support with number pronunciation.

Roll a dice - count out the objects for the number you roll. Can you add 1 more? Try and record your number sentence in your book. E.g.

5 + 1 = 6

 

Using sand/sugar/flour in a tray get the children to practice their letter formation.

Draw a number line to 10 on the floor outside using chalk or inside placing pieces of paper on the floor in order. Stand at 0 and jump along the number line, saying each number as you move.  Can you move forwards and backwards along the number line? 

Build a tower, house or car using Duplo or Lego

Encourage language skills when building using colours, prepositions and labeling what has been built.

Curriculum

 

Find a clean page in your book and get someone in your house to help you divide the page into different parts with lines.  The lines are going to be fences and the spaces are going to be fields.  Count how many fields there are and have a go at drawing some different animals to go in each field - which farm animals will you choose?
