Welcome to Reception Class at Chesterton.

We have had a great couple of weeks so far settling into school life. We have been focusing on our daily routines, getting to know each other and our curriculum theme this half-term is 'Do you want to be friends?'.

We have discussed what it means to be a good friend and using the Colour Monster story, we have looked at different feelings and emotions. One of our favourite stories so far has been 'Ruby's Worry' and we have drawn our own worry monsters in PSHE. We learnt in the story that our worries get bigger if we keep them to ourselves, so it is always best to share them with a grown-up we trust.

Alongside this, our Talk for Writing text this term is Owl Babies and on Wednesday we headed over to Forest School to find little Bill in a nest in the tree. We enjoyed the story around base camp and are now learning the actions to re-tell the story and how to draw our own story maps.

We have also started Phase 2 Phonics this week. Over the next few weeks, we will be learning the sounds s,a,t,p,i,n.

The photos below show a snippet of the things we have been upto in our first few weeks - including our Science Day Investigations and Friendship curriculum activities.
