We believe that the purpose of education is to build character and narrow social injustice for our pupils, broadening their horizons by taking them beyond the everyday! Through our curriculum, the children achieve their full potential and acquire the concepts, knowledge, skills and attitudes that equip them for life in a fast changing world. Our curriculum is designed to achieve high standards of teaching and learning, through a relevant, challenging and imaginative program. This includes a range of educational experiences, allowing the children to apply their knowledge in a range of situations. Our child centred curriculum focuses on the development of children; intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically and morally. Enabling them to reach their full potential, both now and in the future.
To teach phonics our school uses the ‘Letters and Sounds' phonics programme from Nursery to Year 2. When children are beginning to read they are provided with books from the school reading scheme and as they progress into becoming free readers they are able to select books for themselves from our centrally located library.
